Attention newcomer, this is your Mayor speaking, please relax while I help you get situated in your new home. What would the world be without a little hospitality? Welcome to Beyul Valley, a secluded valley fairly cut off from the outside world. You are new here, so let me give you some history about our little town. Not many even know of the existence of this valley deep within the Rhodope Mountains. In ancient folklore around the world people talked about the sacred valleys, always found by chance, almost like a mirage in a desert. Over time, many groups of travelers from around the world happened upon this place and together they decided to make it their home. They built Xanadu- the city on the lake- and lived in peace out of the eye of the rest of the world.

Now this was over 2000 years ago, and it is now 1944. The rest of the world has been living in an age of war and destruction, but life in the valley remains unchanged. Occasionally new people show up, out of the blue, but everyone here knows that when someone finds the valley it is because it was meant to be.

Many of the locals are happy with their lives here, a couple choose to leave every once in awhile, but rarely. However, there are a few things the locals tend to turn a blind eye to, such as the strange occurrences. Folklore and storytelling has always been a large part of our history and culture here, but we must remember that they are just stories. We live in the modern age, and there is no room to be getting worked up about dragons and beasts in the night and whatnot. No, this is an ordinary town, but maybe if you look too hard you may start to find some things are quite out of place.

East of the Sun is a fantasy/adventure/mystery roleplay all wrapped into one, that mostly takes place within the Beyul valley. For the most part the human population is unaware of the supernatural world, with a little help from the good Mayor Thuban- who keeps the valley a safe haven for the mythological. You can create a human character, or a creature- there are hundreds to choose from or you could even make up your own.
